Founder's message

Vic Gainer, Founder of the Coachella Valley HOA Presidents Council and Chair of the Palm Springs Chapter
The HOA Presidents Council was conceptualized in the Spring of 2007, when some may remember the headline in the local section of The Desert Sun screaming out: HOAs bilked; 60-year-old arrested (read story).
In fact, I was one of 13 HOA presidents who became aware that our property manager had been forging checks and had a kick back scheme with those that provided services to us.
Several HOA presidents worked diligently to assist a detective in building the case against Mary Clark/Covenant Management. She was prosecuted and sentenced to a four-year term.

New Feature
Rollout-
Sept 27, 2011 The meeting calendar on home page is now created from the database whenever you access the home page. The system searches the database for any meetings scheduled within the next 30 days and builds the listing in real time. You will no longer see meetings listed that have already occured.
Sept 14, 2011 Two new features are now live on the site: HOA profiles and MyInfo.
- HOA profiles are viewable by clicking the [Details] button next to each HOA name in the search results.
- Profiles open in a pop-up window. (You must have pop-ups enabled in your browser. If you have disabled pop-ups, simply make an exception for hoapresidentscouncil.com.)
- The pop-up window contains a convenient [Print] button.
- Note: If you are the president or another board member of an HOA, you are able to edit the profile by going to MyInfo.
- MyInfo displays what we know about you: Personal information, Interest in HOAs, Chapter you are affiliated with, Dues you have paid to the Council, and any HOA profile you are allowed to edit.
- MyInfo is available from the home page after you have signed in.
- Only you can see the information displayed in MyInfo.
- Note: Dues information is supplied by the Treasurer, and only he can edit it. (At this time, not all payments for 2010-2011 have been entered.)
- Note: Every edit is logged: who changed what and when.
Aug 31, 2011. The new vendors section is now live on the main site. As before, the section is only available to registered users.
- Search replaces the static list
- Search by category
- Search for some text in the vendor name or in the keywords assigned to the vendor.
- If you specify both a category and text only vendors that satisfy both criteria will be found.
- View details for a vendor in a pop-up window
- Easily print the vendor profile using the [Print] button
- Visit vendor's website simply by clicking the link
- If contacts have provided an email address, click to send an email
- NOTE. There is still a lot of work to do on the content side. Our original listing had very minimal information to start with. The structure is there, but a lot of it is empty.
